Signature mechanic
Dawnfly and Freeflutter stance dancing
Narmaya switches between Dawnfly (slow, heavy, chargeable) and Freeflutter (fast, mobile) stances, with every skill and attack behaving differently in each. Landing attacks and link attacks banks butterflies up to six, which enhance her skills — Setsuna at six butterflies is her biggest hit. The classic loop runs Freeflutter into Dawnfly for the faster charge; Paradigm Shift in Endless Ragnarok adds stance finishers that let you restart combos far sooner.
Narmaya is a tricky character to use, but once you get her play style down, the damage payoff is well worth it. Her skills both debuff enemies and buff herself, which makes her versatile against bosses and mobs. Moreover, her stances can prompt her to have heavy-hitting attacks, along with a wider scope of her Combo Finisher, or switch into a more aggressive approach against her enemies by unleashing a prolonged flurry of slashes.— Game8 tier assessment
Support skills (passives)
Butterfly Effect
Narmaya can switch between Dawnfly stance and Freeflutter stance. Her skills and attacks perform differently based on her stance.
Take Flight
Narmaya's skills are enhanced based on the number of butterflies she has. Landing specific attacks and link attacks grants butterflies.
How to unlock
Players may unlock Narmaya by using a Crewmate Card in Siero's Knickknack Shack in a town. You obtain Crewmate Cards by progressing through the main story.
Strengths
- 1
Enormous damage payoff
Executed correctly she is among the highest-damage melee characters, with Setsuna hitting like a truck at six butterflies.
- 2
Self-sufficient buffs and debuffs
Dance of Pink Petals gives ATK↑, Supplementary DMG and Stout Heart; Apex of Nothingness parries and applies Slow.
- 3
Great against both bosses and mobs
Stance flexibility means she has an answer to crowds and to single targets.
Weaknesses
- 1
Steepest learning curve in the roster
Stance timing, gleam cues and butterfly counting all have to be tracked at once.
- 2
Slow Dawnfly commitment
Charge attacks leave her exposed; without Stout Heart up she gets interrupted constantly.
- 3
Punished by downtime
Dropping the stance rhythm resets your damage state and wastes butterflies.

Builds by progression stage
Zegagrande Legend — Maniac quests, first Proud attempts
Do not main her first. If you do, cast Dance of Pink Petals before every combo so you can't be interrupted while learning.
Sigil priorities — Maniac
Damage cap is the only stat that scales here. Chase any DMG Cap trait you can roll, then critical hit rate, then raw attack.
- DMG Cap — on every sigil you can manage
- Critical Hit Rate — consistency beats spikes
- Stamina / Tyranny — cheap attack scaling
- Narmaya's character sigil (single-trait version)
- Potion Hoarder — more healing per run
- Autorevive — a free second chance
- Improved Dodge — as a secondary trait, not a slot
- War Elemental — the moment a Curio gives you one
Skills to run: Kyokasuigetsu, Setsuna, Dance of Pink Petals, Transient — the same core carries all the way to endgame.
Gearing priorities
- Ascension or Stinger weapons, fully upgraded before you chase anything rarer
- Unlock every sigil slot via the Mastery tree, then Fate Episodes for the last two
- Any DMG Cap trait you can find — attack stats alone stop mattering fast
- Critical Hit Rate, Stamina and Tyranny to pad raw output
- Potion Hoarder and Autorevive so runs do not end early
Weapons to use
No Terminus yet. Fully upgrade whichever of Narmaya's standard weapons you can forge — the Collection Mastery passives from levelling every weapon matter more right now than which one you hold.
- Nakamaki Nodachi — HP, Garrison
- Venustas — ATK, HP
- Blade of Purification — Weak Point DMG, Break Assassin
- Fluorithium Blade — Critical Hit Rate, Critical DMG
- Kotetsu — Stun Power, Linked Together
Proud quests, Bahamut's Rage, Lucilius (Quest Zero)
Ameno Habakiri with Butterfly's Warpath+ and Awakening+. Drill the Freeflutter→Dawnfly transition until the gleam cue is automatic.
Sigil loadout — Proud endgame
Alpha and Gamma sigils are recommended to push for a Damage Cap increase. You will also want to have Butterfly's Warpath , which can temporarily boost Enhanced DMG and Supplementary DMG whenever she performs a complete combo of either of her stances. Having the Uplift sigil can compensate for the slowed-down SBA gauge gain. On the other hand, her Butterfly's Awakening can keep her Butterflies at maximum, which can easily bring out her skills' full damage potential.
Have War Elemental equipped to make sure Narmaya always deals Superior Element damage. You will want to continue stacking up on Narmaya's supplementary damage and attack power by equipping Berserker Echo , Stamina V , Tyranny , and Critical Hit Rate.
For more chances of survivability, it will be good to have both Potion Hoarder and Autorevive to keep her health up during tougher battles.

- Terminus weapon, fully upgraded and awakened — Catastrophe wants max HP at or below 45,000
- Alpha+, Beta+ and Gamma+ from Lucilius drops for stacked damage cap
- Character Awakening+ and Warpath+ sigils via Transmute and Transmarvel
- War Elemental+ so every hit counts as superior element

For Narmaya's Over Mastery Bonus, you will want to have Attack Power Up , Normal Attack Damage Cap Up , and Critical Hit Rate Up to maximize Narmaya's fast-hitting combos and damage output. Apart from this, you will want Skybound Art Damage Cap Up to amplify her SBA damage.

Ameno Habakiri is Narmaya's Terminus Weapon, and the best choice to equip on her, especially with the Catastrophe and Regen traits. Catastrophe provides a significant increase of 50% in ATK power, along with a 100% Damage Cap increase if Narmaya is at or below 45,000 HP. To increase chances of survivability, Regen can recover a portion of her health over time.
Chaos → Chaos+ → Chaos++, then Defy Infinity
Paradigm Shift. Press the normal-attack combo immediately after a combo finisher to chain stance finishers — that is the whole modern loop.
Sigil loadout — Fatebreaker
We recommend equipping Narmaya with Basic Stat-type Sigils, such as Health and Stun Power, to meet the requirements for boosting her DMG Cap in her Mastery Traits . To further maximize her damage output, equip her with Fatebreaker, Celestial Lumen, and Celestial Terra . Include Improved Dodge and Steel Nerves among your Sigils to boost her survivability and support during battle.

- Transcended Terminus (T.Lvl 7): Catastrophe Nova, DMG Cap, Sigil Booster, Unbound Master
- While progressing Chaos, a transcended Defender weapon usually beats an un-transcended Terminus
- The standard template: 5 Basic-Stat + 3 Attack + 2 Defense/Support sigils
- Fatebreaker V+, Celestial Lumen V+ and Celestial Terra V+ in the attack slots
- Improved Dodge+ and Steel Nerves V+ for survivability that does not cost damage
- Summons for their traits: War Elemental, Stout Heart, Berserker Echo, Spartan Echo

Her best Endgame weapon is a Transcended Ameno Habakiri, her Terminus Weapon. This includes an updated version of Catastrophe, Catastrophe Nova . Similar to Catastrophe, she can gain tremendous ATK and DMG Cap if her HP is equal to or less than 200,000 . The Ameno Habakiri can stack another DMG Cap , as well as Unbound Master to raise her Skybound Art's damage. She will also benefit from a Sigil Booster that raises the levels of all Sigils equipped on her.
While progressing Chaos
Nakamaki Nodachi
- I
- HPLv 35Boosts base health.
- II
- Greater AegisLv 25Greatly raises maximum health in proportion to your current maximum health.
- III
- DMG Cap EcruLv 15Boosts attack power and damage cap based on how high your maximum health is.
- IV

- EX
- Unbound ExertionLv 15Boosts damage cap of Skybound Arts.
Wrightstone
Vitality Wrightstone
- Critical Hit Rate
- DMG Cap
- Supplementary DMG
The Nakamaki Nodachi becomes Narmaya's best weapon while progressing through the Chaos difficulty quests, as this can provide her with a raise in HP and ATK. This is better amplified by having an additional HP trait, along with Greater Aegis and Stronghold , to meet the needed HP requirements to activate DMG Cap Ecru. Additionally, her damage during her Skybound Art can be boosted by Unbound Exertion.

The best Master Trait for Narmaya is Paradigm Shift . This utilizes her stances by having continuous combos and boosting DMG. Narmaya can speed up her combos by immediately pressing the Normal Attack combo after a Combo Finisher, and keep the player's preferred stance continuous.
Execution
Combos & rotation
Paradigm Shift Combo (Endless Ragnarok)
With the Paradigm Shift Master Trait, Narmaya can now perform Dawnfly Finishers and Freeflutter Finishers. These stance finishers can serve as a starting chain to her combos, which allows her to start Combo Finishers faster. After following her usual combos in either stance, immediately press the Normal Attack Combo upon landing a Combo Finisher, then repeat.
Freeflutter to Dawnfly Combo Pre-DLC6 steps
- 1Activate Dance of Pink Petals to gain buffs and uninterruptible combos.
- 2Switch to Freeflutter Stance, then keep hitting the enemy with the attack button until Narmaya hops into a spin.
- 3Once Narmaya lands from the spin, a gleam will occur, which is the perfect cue to switch to Dawnfly stance.
- 4Charge up Narmaya's attack in her Dawnfly stance.
- 5After executing her charged attack, immediately shift to Freeflutter stance once her sword shows a pink gleam.
- 6Repeat the combo when needed.
Narmaya is more efficient when her Freeflutter stance comes first before her Dawnfly stance. Her attacks in the Dawnfly stance are a bit slower, although heavier when it comes to hits. Charging her attack without following it with a combo takes longer in comparison. You can immediately charge your attack after switching stances, which will be quicker than charging it without a combo.
Moreover, her Dawnfly can also be used strategically, as she can unleash a shockwave from a distance by immediately switching to Freeflutter after finishing her Dawnfly combo.
Unleash A Skill at 6 Butterflies
Narmaya can accumulate up to 6 butterflies max, either through successful stance combos, through her support skills , or through Link Attacks . The perfect time to unleash a skill is when Narmaya reaches the maximum number of butterflies. Setsuna, in particular, is best used at this point, as it is her highest damage-dealing skill.
Use an Offensive Skill Before Dawnfly Charge Attack
Another fast way to charge Narmaya's normal attack during her Dawnfly stance is to use one of her offensive skills beforehand, such as Kyokasuigetsu and Transient. This can be maximized by having 6 Butterflies at her disposal.
Performing a Link Attack can also speed up the charging process. After executing a Link Attack, you can quickly charge your attack to unleash the Dawnfly combo.

Skills
Recommended loadout — Kyokasuigetsu to Setsuna
Kyokasuigetsu allows you to dash immediately to your enemy while releasing a certain amount of damage. This is very convenient to close the gap between you and the enemy if you find yourself at a farther spot. Setsuna is Narmaya's strongest skill, as a full charge can release an incredible amount of damage on the enemy. However, maximizing this skill requires a bit of time to charge, so you will need to have traits, such as Quick Cooldown, to spam the skill at full gauge.
The best skill to pair with Setsuna is the Dance of Pink Petals , which provides buffs for ATK and Supplementary Damage, as well as a Stout Heart, which can render Narmaya uninterruptible. You will want to cast this before charging Setsuna to max the gauge without getting cut from enemy hits.
Lastly, the Transient skill is Narmaya's multi-hitting skill that can occur differently depending on her activated stance. It is recommended to perform Transient in her Dawnfly stance, as this deals more considerable damage compared to the Freeflutter stance.
| Skill | Effect | Applies |
|---|---|---|
| Apex of Nothingness | Narmaya readies to parry and counter. She inflicts Slow and removes 1 buff from a foe on hit. Effect duration and damage is based on butterfly count. | |
| Crescent Moon | Unleashes a long-range slash while jumping back. Skill strength is based on butterfly count. | |
| Dance of Blue Petals | Grants DEF↑ and restores HP to Narmaya. She also gains 3 butterflies. | |
| Dance of Pink PetalsRecommended | Grants ATK↑, Stout Heart, and Supplementary DMG to Narmaya. She also gains 3 butterflies. | |
| KyokasuigetsuRecommended | A fast lunging slash attack. Deals more hits based on butterfly count. | |
| SetsunaRecommended | A chargeable frontal slash. Charges faster based on butterfly count. | |
| TransientRecommended | A multi-hit assault that differs based on stance. Deals more hits based on butterfly count. | |
| Utter Devotion | Grants Hostility↑ to Narmaya, and inflicts DEF↓ on nearby foes. She also gains 3 butterflies. |
Situational swaps: Apex of Nothingness.Apex of Nothingness is a good skill alternative to Transient, as this can inflict a Slow debuff on enemies. This can function as a parry or counter to enemy attacks, which, if timed perfectly, can send Narmaya landing a sudden attack from above.

Party
Recommended team — Captain, Vane, and Cagliostro
Narmaya has skills that require some time, including her Dawnfly stance, where she will need to charge an attack to perform a successful combo. Thus, we recommend bringing someone who can provide Invincibility or incapacitate enemies with Stun, such as Vane . Cagliostro and the Captain (Gran/Djeeta) can offer Narmaya some support with buffs and healing from the sidelines.
