Signature mechanic

Grade IV shots and perfect reload timing

Eustace fires with normal attack and reloads with unique attack, and his firepower drops the further he stands from the target — so he is a ranged character who wants to be close. Reloading immediately after a link attack or on a full Loaded gauge loads Heavy Ammo, and perfectly timed reloads after Grade IV shots grant Strength. The loop is: keep firepower at 100%, always reload, always charge the fifth bullet.

Eustace has good utility and is best used when you maximize his Stun. His gameplay requires you to fill his gauge to deliver efficient damage to the enemy. Overall, he's not difficult to use.— Game8 tier assessment

Support skills (passives)

  • Thunderwolf

Press normal attack to fire a bullet and unique attack to reload. Eustace's firepower decreases the farther he is from the target.

  • Fuel for the Fire

Eustace loads his gun with heavy ammo by reloading right after a link attack or with a full Loaded gauge. Landing normal attack shots fills the gauge.

How to unlock

Unlock Eustace by recruiting him at Sierokarte's Knickknack Shack in exchange for a regular Crewmate Card . He is available in the Knickknack Shack along with the release of Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok.

Strengths

  • 1

    High stun contribution

His kit is built around maximising stun, accelerating the party's break windows.

  • 2

    Strong utility for a gunner

Acidrage Howl gives him a parry-counter, which is unusual and very useful at range.

  • 3

    Clear optimisation rules

Three simple habits — full firepower, always reload, charge the fifth — cover most of his ceiling.

Weaknesses

  • 1

    Range penalty

Firepower decays with distance, forcing him into the danger zone that ranged characters normally avoid.

  • 2

    Reload discipline required

Missing perfect reloads costs Strength stacks and Heavy Ammo capacity.

  • 3

    Paid DLC character

    Requires Endless Ragnarok.

Perfectionist. Heavy Ammo uptime plus 100% firepower is the whole build — stand closer than feels safe.

Sigil loadout — Fatebreaker

A central part of Eustace's build involves using Basic and Defense Stat-type Sigils to maximize Eustace's Master Traits that provide DMG Cap , HP , and DEF . Additionally, you get more DMG Cap from sigils introduced in Endless Ragnarok, such as Fatebreaker , Celestial Lumen , and Celestial Terra .

Including the summons, you should get Spartan and Berserker Echo to further increase Supplementary DMG . Make sure to always have War Elemental to always have a damage boost. Lastly, look for defensive stats such as Greater Aegis , Improved Dodge , and Steel Nerves .

For Eustace's Master Traits, his strongest style is Crux: Perfectionist . The style provides a lot of buffs and DMG Cap, but requires you to not get hit. It is his most skill intensive skill, and can be difficult to consistently maintain.

For the other styles, get nodes that provide bonuses based on equipped Sigils and additional DMG Cap to maximize damage. Additionally, get nodes that can make it easier to dodge or load Eustace's Loaded Gauge.

Execution

Combos & rotation

  • Eustace Heavy Ammo Combo (Endless Ragnarok)7 steps
    1. 1Paralyze the enemy with Heaven Comes Down
    2. 2Deal high stun with Flamek Thunder
    3. 3Fill up Loaded gauge with Normal and Charged Attacks
    4. 4Fire off heavy ammo
    5. 5Fire off more heavy ammo if Link attack is available
    6. 6Use Play with Fire
    7. 7Fire off heavy ammo

Eustace's main combo involves building up his Loaded gauge by successfully hitting Normal and Charged Attacks. Make sure to always take advantage of link attacks since it automatically gives you a full gauge.

  • Keep 100% Firepower

You will notice a 100%, 75%, and 30% indicator on the enemy you are currently locked on. This indicates Firepower and will directly affect the damage your bullets deal. It is ideal to stay within mid-range to always maintain 100% Firepower and maximize damage.

  • Always Reload

Reloading fills up your Loaded gauge based on how many bullets you used in your current clip. Failing to reload in between clips causes you to lose out on a lot of time filling up the meter, so make sure to always reload.

  • Always Charge the 5th Bullet

It is recommended to always charge up your 5th bullet since this increases your bullet to Grade 3, which deals decent damage. Though you can get more damage out of charging all of your bullets, it generally leaves you more vulnerable to enemy attacks.

  • Don't Move to Increase Fire Rate

While stationary, your fire rate for tapping through your Normal Attacks significantly increases. Ideally, you would only use your Strafe Shot when needed to maximize damage.

Kit

Skills

Recommended loadout — Play with Fire and Flamek Thunder

Play with Fire allows you to further burst down enemies since it automatically fills your gun with heavy ammo. For utility, Flamek Thunder deals a high amount of stun and damage.

Never Surrender mainly acts as an additional layer of defense by granting Mirror Image. Lastly, Heaven Comes Down can apply Paralysis, which can aid your team by disabling enemy movement.

SkillEffectApplies
Acidrage HowlEustace readies to parry and counter. Upon countering, dodges backward, fires a follow-up shot, then loads his gun with heavy ammo.
Fast LaneA quick dodge that can be activated up to 3 times in a row. Dodging a hit with perfect timing fills the Loaded gauge.
Flamek ThunderRecommendedFires a high-powered shot at frontal foes. Hold while activating to charge and aim. Deals a high amount of stun.
Forever YoursFires a lightning-infused bullet. On hit, emits an electrical discharge that jumps between nearby foes.
Heaven Comes DownRecommendedSummons lightning to strike the target zone. Hold while casting to aim and prolong duration. On direct hit from its finisher, inflicts Paralysis.
Never SurrenderRecommendedGrants Mirror Image and Supplementary DMG to Eustace.
Play with FireRecommendedLoads Eustace's gun with heavy ammo. Briefly boosts the firepower of (square) attacks and ignores distance-based penalties.
Slow KillFires a spread of projectiles that inflicts ATK↓ to a foe on hit. Hold while activating to reduce spread, which boosts damage and debuff strength.

Situational swaps: Acidrage Howl.In the endgame, you can also consider using Acidrage Howl instead of Never Surrender as an effective parry that leads to more overall DPS. It synergizes with the Perfectionist mastery style, since this requires you to not get hit.

Recommended team — The Captain, Vane, and Cagliostro

Eustace provides steady ranged DPS, so he thrives best when players have allies that can apply buffs and one that can tank hits. The Captain and Cagliostro both have access to several skills that can apply buffs, debuffs, and healing to aid the whole team. Vane is an excellent tank that can take enemy agro, so Eustace can comfortably deal damage.
